Growing Your Online Teaching Business

Last month, I fully transitioned from being an independent teacher on Outschool to an organization on the platform. I have discontinued offering classes on my website as well.

The objective: grow my business on the service side and focus on products and services for coaching and consultations through my website.

Why did I make this decision?

I was accepted into a business cohort nine weeks ago.  Having access to professionals and mentors has helped me narrow down and focus my business model.

My biggest goal was to decrease the amount of time I spent behind these screens teaching live classes. While I have a lot of freedom and flexibility, I now desire even more! Working 10-15 hours a week isn’t much. However, my time will now consist of completing payroll, scheduling, and customer service until I hire and train someone to take on those roles.

I want to finish my books. I want to spend more time with my daughter. I want to wake up on Tuesday at 10 am and read a book in my backyard.

The only way I can do this is by scaling my business. I can no longer be “all the people.” All the people being the person doing all the work.

Scaling Your Business

I want you to think about yourself as a business and how you can scale.

Here are a few examples:
Create worksheets
Develop content for teachers
Coaching/Consulting
Subscription boxes
Collaborate/Partner

Think about ways you can automate some of the tasks you currently have.

I went from thinking earning $10/month was impossible, but my new goal is to make ten times as much by next year.  I’m aiming high!

I am adding new consultations dates for the month of August that can help with brainstorming and develop new ideas on how you can scale your business.
