Mastering the Five Paragraph Essay: Part II Self-Paced

Students will learn how to write a five paragraph essay in this prerecorded, self-paced course.  **This is a continuation from Part I which is mandatory to enroll in Part II.
The essays in Part II include: Classification, Personal Narrative, Research, Cause and Effect
Each lesson will begin with a mini-lecture and practice.
Week 1: Introduction to Writing and Classification Essay
Objective: Student will learn how to develop a detailed outline.  Part 1 focused on the basic outline structure.
Student will practice structuring paragraphs (topic sentence, main idea, thesis statements, concluding/transitional sentences, and the upside down conclusion).
Student will learn how to develop and write a classification essay.
Week 2: Personal narrative
Objective: Students will develop and write a personal narrative based on Common Application prompts.
Week 3: Research Paper
Objective:  Student will learn to support claims through research.
Week 4: Cause and Effect Essay
Objective:  Student will learn develop and write a cause/effect paper with at least three solutions.
A total of four essays will be written.
Feedback will be provided on all work that is submitted.
