Semester Long Middle School Writing Course Part II: Self-Paced

Learners will write a total of FOUR essays, ONE creative writing project, and ONE peer review
Learners will read SIX short stories and need to respond to at least TWO questions and ONE response to their peers.

Week 1: Expository Essay Rough Draft
Short story and discussion questions posted in class.

Week 2: Expository Essay Final Draft

Week 3: Introduction of the Creative Writing Project
Short story and discussion questions posted in class

Week 4: Persuasive Essay Rough Draft
Short story and discussion questions posted in class

Week 5: Persuasive Essay Final Draft

Week 6: Creative Writing First Draft

Week 7: Peer Reviews
Short story and discussion questions posted in class

Week 8: Compare/Contrast Essay

Week 9: Compare/Contrast Final
Short story and discussion questions posted in class

Week 10: Analysis Essay

Week 11: Analysis Essay Final Draft

Week 12: Creative Writing Final 
Short story and discussion questions posted in class

Each essay will have a specified word count or page minimum.  This course will move beyond the five paragraph essay.

Written work submitted before or on the due date will receive feedback from the instructor. *Work submitted after the due date will not receive feedback. All assignments and materials will be posted in the classroom. This is a flexible schedule course with zero live meetings. However, the instructor will be available to answer all questions through the classroom. *Each lesson will be pre-recorded and available on the start day of the course. For example, if you are enrolled in the Sunday course, all assignments will be posted by noon EST each Sunday. Participation from all learners will be expected as essays and papers will be turned into the classroom. MODIFICATION AND ACCOMDATIONS ARE AVAIALBLE Please let the teacher know in advance if accommodations or modifications are needed.
