This is a prerecorded, self-paced class. Students will submit their work and receive feedback on their work.
Students will learn the ‘hamburger’ paragraph method (topic sentence, supporting details, and closing sentence).
Class 1: The Paragraph
Students will be introduced to the structure of writing a paragraph.
Students will learn about topic sentences, supporting details, and the closing sentence.
Students will practice identifying the different parts in a paragraph.
Students will select a prompt and submit their paragraph.
Class 2: The Essay
Students will learn how to structure an introduction and conclusion.
Introduction: (the hook/attention-getter) and writing a thesis statement.
Conclusion: I will teach the ‘upside-down’ introduction method.
Students will learn about the basic outline format.
The students will be given three options for their writing prompt.
Students will complete and submit an essay.
Ages: 9-14, Accommodations and modifications can be made for those with learning differences.
