Why Teacher Jade’s Writing Academy Is Changing (Again) — and Why That’s a Good Thing for Your Family

If you’ve been homeschooling for any length of time, you already know this truth:

Nothing stays the same for long.

What worked last year might not work this year.
What your child needed in elementary school looks very different in middle or high school.
And what you have the energy for as a parent can shift overnight.

I know this because I’ve lived it both as a homeschool parent and as the person behind Teacher Jade’s Writing Academy.

The Early Days: Single Classes Made Sense

When I first started offering writing classes, I focused on individual courses.

One class for paragraphs.
One class for essays.
One class for creative writing.

At the time, this made perfect sense:

  • Parents wanted to “try one thing”

  • Children needed help in one specific area

  • I was balancing homeschooling, parenting, and building a business

Single classes were flexible and flexibility mattered.

Then Came Bundles and Packages

As families stayed longer and students grew, something became clear:

Writing isn’t a one-and-done skill.

Parents weren’t just asking for help with one assignment they wanted:

  • Ongoing structure

  • Consistency

  • Confidence over time

So I created packages and bundles to give families more support and value.

But here’s what I learned (and many homeschool parents will relate to this):

Too many options can feel overwhelming.

Even when everything is “good,” it can be hard to know where to start.

The Homeschool Lesson That Changed Everything

Homeschooling taught me something powerful:

The best plans are the ones that fit real life.

Over the years, I’ve had to:

  • Adjust schedules

  • Change teaching styles

  • Let go of things that no longer served my family

  • Simplify when life felt too full

And recently, my life changed in a big way.

My child is now in college.

That season of constant daily homeschooling has ended — and with it came space to reflect, refocus, and ask a very important question:

What do families actually need right now?

The Answer: Simplicity and Support

After listening to parents, reviewing enrollments, and reflecting on my own journey, I realized the Academy needed to do what homeschooling has always required me to do:

Pivot.

So, I simplified everything into two clear options:

1. All Courses — Self-Paced

For families who want flexibility, independence, and learning on their own schedule.

2. All Courses + Teacher Feedback

For families who want guidance, accountability, and support without having to grade writing themselves.

No confusing tiers.
No guessing what’s included.
One simple decision: Do you want feedback or not?

Why This Change Matters for You

This new structure allows me to:

  • Create new courses that reflect what students actually need

  • Offer deeper support to families who want it

  • Keep learning flexible for parents juggling many responsibilities

  • Work in a way that honors my current season of life

And most importantly, it allows you to choose what works best for your family without overwhelm.

Homeschooling Is Full of Pivots and That’s Okay

If there’s one thing I hope you take away from this, it’s this:

Changing your approach doesn’t mean you failed.
It means you’re paying attention.

Homeschooling evolves.
Children grow.
Parents change.
Life shifts.

Teacher Jade’s Writing Academy is evolving too and I’m excited about what this next chapter brings.

If you’re ready to simplify writing instruction and choose the level of support that fits your family, I’d love to welcome you.
