Have you ever found yourself in a slump?
There is a long list of things to do, but you can’t quite find the motivation to complete the task.
I just learned a new phrase this week: decision-fatigue. I was like, “What is that?” But, I realized a lot of my clients are suffering from just that. Now I have a name to put on it.
Decision fatigue (NOUN)difficulty in making a good decision experienced as a result of the number of decisions one needs to take.
They have too many options and don’t know where to start. So, I started working on a checklist. Work on small task at a time, don’t start working on the next tasks until the first one is complete. The problem? I don’t use my own checklist which leads me to not want to do anything. I lose motivation to complete even the smallest tasks. I just want to read and eat snacks on my couch. I know I can’t stay in that slump. I have to re-motivate myself.
What do you do to stay motivated?
I have a small group of business minded women that I meet with or I reach out to members from my cohort, but the main thing that brings me back to my ‘go full throttle’ mindset is my playlist. I have a collection of songs that help re-ignite my fire and bring me back to my purpose.
My problem is starting too many projects at once. I never feel accomplished if I am not juggling multiple things. However, I have had to take a step back from being the person that is doing all the things. In the process of reevaluating my purpose, I realized there are some areas that I need to put more focus on. The biggest priority needs to be my Academy. I want to expand, but I can’t do that if I am working on coaching, consultations, content creating, networking, homeschooling, personal life, and daily life. My online classes garner the most income. I also want it to be fruitful for my teachers which means I need to put more into advertising, marketing, and increasing enrollments. I’ve been busy grant writing and collaborating to help with the growth of the Academy as I continue teaching live classes.
When I overwhelm myself with task that I don’t need to complete, nothing gets done. So, I took a step back and made the bite-size tasks I want to complete. I drew a chart of where work can be automated and listed the job openings I need to post to create the team I’ve been talking about for the past two years.
I have a solid base of teachers, it is time for me to fade into the background, even with the administrative tasks (messaging families, payroll, and scheduling). I am ready to step in and step up for 2022.
