Creative Writing Workshop: Character, Plot, and World-Building

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗕𝗲 𝗧𝗮𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁?

Learners will strengthen creativity, storytelling skills, and writing confidence through engaging creative writing challenges. This course encourages students to experiment with voice, perspective, structure, and imagination while developing strong written expression.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗧𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗕𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱?

• 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝗘𝘀𝘀𝗮𝘆

Learners connect personal experiences, emotions, or memories to selected songs to create reflective and meaningful writing.

• 𝗠𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗪𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴

Students write from the perspective of a victim, criminal, or detective using provided images as inspiration.

• 𝗦𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗣𝗶𝗲𝗰𝗲

Learners create a humorous or thought-provoking satire inspired by Jonathan Swift’s A Modest Proposal.

• 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗶𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗿 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘂𝗲

Students develop a character through diary entries or monologues that reveal voice, motivation, and emotion.

• 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱-𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝗹𝗮𝘀𝗵 𝗙𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

Learners create an original world and write a short story (150–250 words) set within it.

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗜𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗱?

This is a self-paced class with pre-recorded lessons for each creative writing challenge. Learners may move through lessons at their own pace, rewatch videos as needed, and submit assignments when ready.

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗜 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵?

Each lesson includes:

• Clear, step-by-step video instruction

• Visual slides and examples

• Writing prompts and creative models

• Optional scaffolds such as sentence starters and guided questions

My teaching style is supportive, encouraging, and creativity-focused. Learners receive guidance without limiting their imagination, allowing them to take risks and develop their own unique writing voice.

Learners may submit written assignments for personalized written feedback. While there are no live meetings, interaction occurs through detailed responses to student work, offering specific suggestions for growth and improvement.
