Research & Real-World Writing (Self-Paced)

This self-paced course teaches students how to write for real-world and academic purposes through research-based and structured writing. Students will learn how to develop strong research questions, organize information, evaluate and use sources, and write clear articles and essays.

Each unit includes pre-recorded instruction, guided practice, and independent writing assignments that help students build practical writing and research skills at their own pace. The instruction is structured and focused on helping students clearly organize ideas and write with confidence.

Students will complete one research paper, which includes:

-Developing a research question and thesis statement

-Researching credible sources and creating an annotated bibliography

-Drafting and revising a final research paper using MLA or APA format

Students will also complete two additional writing pieces:

-A newspaper article

-An editorial

The course concludes with a final presentation based on the student’s research findings.

All assignments are submitted digitally and receive detailed, personalized feedback to support growth in writing, organization, and research skills.
