There are several places where one can offer online courses:
- Course Content Websites
A course content website allows you to build out a course, they may provide some elements for marketing, and some offer the option to purchase a domain name.
- Marketplace Websites
A marketplace allows you to list your courses.
My top pick:
- Your own website!!!

A Repost: Best Platforms to Earn Money Teaching Online
If you’re ready to get started with your online teaching journey, or even if you already teach online, there are multiple options to choose from until you are ready to venture out and develop your own platform. There are a number of different online platforms to choose from, and some overlap in the services they provide, their target audience, and their teaching criteria. To help simplify these options, there will be four primary sections.
- Tutoring
There are sites where you list your independent services and sites where you are matched with students live.
- Online Schools
Think homeschool programs. These typically require a license or certification in the state.
- Teaching Websites
You are able to list your courses. Licenses and certificates aren’t typically required.
- ESL
These sites can include options where you list your services, services where you are matched with a client, and those with pre-made curriculum. Different platforms vary on need for certifications and/or experience.
Tutoring
*Some of these sites allow you to post your services and set your own prices while others provide a base pay.
Online Schools
Pro-tip: Search ‘online public schools’ by state for different programs.
A license or certification is typically needed for these positions.
Create Your Own Courses
ESL
Pro-Tip: Search by region for alternative ESL programs. Check sites like Dave’s ESL Cafe and market your services through posts rather than just job listings.
Build Your Own Platform
- Build your website (WordPress, Wix, Square)
- Choose your plugins (example: WpCourseware)
- Implement an LMS (Schoology, Google Classroom)
- Include interactive resources as needed (Nearpod)
